ELIGIBILITY

The 2025 William Shatner … And You (“Interview Application”) is open only to natural persons who are eighteen (18) years old or the legal age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence (whichever is greater) at the time of application submission. The Interview Application may only be entered from and in eligible jurisdictions. VOID WHEREVER PROHIBITED OR RESTRICTED BY LAW. Employees, agents, and suppliers of the Released Parties (as defined below), and their immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings, and children) and household members are not eligible to participate or win any prize. Administrator may request any potential winner to provide proof that such person is the winner. All potential winners are subject to verification before any prize will be awarded. By participating in the Interview Application, Applicant fully and unconditionally agrees and accepts these official rules (“Official Rules”) and Administrator’s decisions, which are final and binding in all matters related to the Interview Application. Being selected for an interview is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth herein. To be eligible to win, a potential winner must have a valid pre-order for each Submission. Any attempt to refund a pre-order, or charge-back a purchase, will result in disqualification.

SPONSOR/ADMINISTRATOR

The Sponsor and the Administrator of the Interview Application is Buy the Book, LLC located at 10153 ½ Riverside Drive, Ste. 206, Toluca Lake, CA 91602 (“Sponsor” or “Administrator”).

INTERVIEW APPLICATION PERIOD

The submission period begins at 10 AM PT on July 28, 2025 and ends at 5 PM PT on December 30, 2025 (“Submission Period”). 

The judging period begins at 10AM PT on January 1st, 2025 and ends once all eligible Submissions have been judged and no later than 5 PM PT on January 19th, 2026  (“Judging Period”).  

The Submission Period and Judging Period are collectively referred to herein as “Interview Application Period” and are described below.

HOW TO ENTER

Follow the steps outlined below to submit a short Biography along with your Personal Story and proof of pre-order (together a “Submission”).

1. Create one (1) short biography and one (1) personal story about how William Shatner has impacted your life. Whether it’s through Star Trek, Boston Legal, his music, books, or unforgettable live appearances. Submissions must not exceed 150 words.

For all entries:
Applicants are eligible to submit one (1) Submission per pre-order during the Submission Period.
During the Interview Application Period, qualifying Entries may be posted online and viewed by the public, in Administrator’s sole discretion. Administrator shall have the right to immediately remove any and all Entries that violate these rules, at the sole direction of the Interview Application Entities. 

By making a Submission, you represent that you own or have permission to use the Biography and Personal Story. You grant Administrator, at their discretion, to display your Submission during and after the Interview Application Period, and you grant the Administrator an unlimited right to use, exploit, modify, and otherwise distribute the Submission, and your name during the Interview Application Period and for two (2) years thereafter to promote the Administrator and future versions of this competition without any compensation to you. The Administrator and Authors may wish to use your story in the book even if you are not granted an interview. In the case that part or all of your biography and submission is used in the book, you grant the Administrator and authors unlimited right to use, exploit, modify, or otherwise distribute your Submission and your name. You shall not exercise the moral rights of author or any other similar rights against Administrator with respect to the Submission, and consent to breach of such rights by the Administrator. Administrator is not obligated to use, publish, display, or broadcast any of the Submissions.

You warrant and represent that:

1. You grant the Administrator an unlimited right to use, exploit, modify, and otherwise distribute the Submission to promote the Released Parties without any compensation to you. Released Parties are not obligated to use, publish, display, or broadcast any Submission.
2.  Your Submission is original to you and does not infringe the intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights or any other legal or moral rights of any third party or violate applicable laws or regulations.
3. You understand that once a Submission is made, there will be no refunds for pre-orders.

If there is a question that you have violated any of the above, Administrator in their sole discretion, may assist in obtaining any necessary permission(s) or may provide you with the opportunity to obtain any necessary permission(s) if warranted, or may give you the opportunity to edit your Submission if time permits.

SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS

At their sole discretion, Administrators will select a number of applicants for a one-on-one interview with William Shatner to be featured in the William Shatner … And You book. Due to Mr. Shatner’s schedule, interviews will likely be held electronically. In the event that an in-person interview is scheduled, Applicant will be responsible for their own transportation, parking, meals, housing, and any and all other expenses not specifically mentioned herein. If the interview is conducted remotely, at the Administrator’s discretion, the winning Applicant is responsible for all associated costs and for providing all the necessary equipment and internet connection. By accepting an interview with Mr. Shatner, an Applicant agrees to abide by these rules and to having their interview included in the book without any compensation.
Approximate Retail Value of the Interview is: less than one dollar ($1.00). Any difference between stated approximate retail value and actual value of prize will not be awarded.
Applicants selected for an interview may not assign this interview. 

SELECTION AND VERIFICATION OF POTENTIAL WINNER

All eligible Submissions will be reviewed and judged during the Judging Period as described below.
 
Administrators will select interview candidates at their sole discretion. Criteria will not be published, nor will submissions be available to the public. As a general guide, Administrators will be looking for compelling biographies and stories that explore an interesting connection between an applicant’s life and the work and life of Mr. Shatner, whether personally or professionally. Administrators will be the sole judge of what is compelling and interesting and would make a worthy interview subject for the book.

Administrator reserves the right to include a number of interview candidates from outside the pool of applicant, such as celebrity interviewees and those whom the Administrator judges may be beneficial to the content of the book.

 
The Administrator will contact potential interviewees on or about December, 2025, or sooner if all eligible Submissions have been judged beforehand. Potential successful applicants will be notified by email.

Potential winner must respond to Administrator within forty-eight (48) hours of notification or attempted notification by Administrator. If an Applicant’s notification is undeliverable or in the event of non-compliance with any of the Interview Application rules, the application shall be forfeited, or in the event the selected Applicant declines the prize, another Applicant may be selected at Administrator’s discretion. All pre-sales and sales are final, and refunds will not be offered under any circumstance.
 
All potential interviewees are subject to verification by Administrators. Administrator’s decisions as to the administration and operation of the Interview Application and the selection of potential winners are final and binding in all matters related to the Interview Application. Administrator reserves the right to disqualify any Applicant or selected interviewee and may refuse to interview Applicant who is ineligible or has violated any rule, gained unfair advantage in participating in the Interview Application, or obtained winner status using fraudulent means. Being interviewed by Mr. Shatner is subject to vetting and pre-interview protocols by Administrator. Administrators also reserve the right to disqualify any potential or confirmed interviewee (a) who engages in behavior that (as determined by Administrators in their sole and absolute discretion) is inappropriate, threatening, illegal or that is intended to annoy, abuse, threaten, harass, victimize, degrade, or intimidate any other individual or group of individuals on the basis of religion, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, age, or disability.

Potential interviewees are restricted from any communication (e.g., announcing, telling any other person, or posting online via website, blog, or any social media platform) stating that they have been contacted or are a potential interviewee or interviewee until Administrator has fully verified eligibility and Administrator has notified potential interviewee in writing that he or she has been approved to communicate this status. Any violation of the foregoing sentence may disqualify such potential interviewee from being interviewed or from their interview being used in the book.

PUBLICITY

Except where prohibited by law, participation in the Interview Application constitutes your consent to Administrator to use your name and Submission for promotional purposes in any media, worldwide, in perpetuity, without further payment or consideration. 

PRIVACY

Information submitted by you will be collected by Administrator’s systems based in the United States and such collection will be subject to applicable United States privacy laws. Your participation in this Interview Application constitutes consent for Administrator to use your personal information for the purpose of administering the Interview Application and awarding the prizes. You may withdraw personal data upon written request; however, you will be disqualified if personal data is withdrawn prior to the determination of the interviewees and conducting of the interview and use in the book.

ERRORS AND UNAUTHORIZED ACTIVITIES

In the event that the operation, security, or administration of the Interview Application is impaired in any way for any reason, including without limitation, fraud, virus or other technical problem, or any other reason beyond the control of Administrator, Administrator may, in its sole discretion, either: (a) suspend the Interview Application to address the impairment and then resume the Interview Application in a manner that best conforms to the spirit of these Official Rules; or (b) cancel or terminate the Interview Application and, if feasible, review and judge all eligible entries received up to the time of the impairment. Administrator reserves the right to modify interview selection procedures. Administrator reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the application process or the operation of the Interview Application or to be acting in violation of the Official Rules of this or any other promotion, or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Any attempt by any person to undermine the legitimate operation of the Interview Application may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and should such an attempt be made, Administrator reserve the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Administrator’s failure to enforce any provision of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.

RELEASE

Subject to any applicable laws, by participating in the Interview Application, you agree to release Buy the Book, LLC, its parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, successors, assigns, agents, representatives, officers, directors, shareholders, and employees; William Shatner;  and Joshua Brandon (collectively “Released Parties”), from and against any and all liability for any claims, costs, injuries, losses or damages of any kind arising in connection with the Interview Application to the extent possible under applicable law (except where the Administrator are at fault through intentional or negligent conduct), including without limitation: (a) acceptance, possession, use, misuse, or nonuse of the interview that may be conducted; (b) any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by Applicants, printing errors or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Interview Application; (c) technical and/or communications malfunctions, errors or failures of any kind; (d) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the Interview Application; (e) technical or human error which may occur in the administration of the Interview Application or the processing of entries; (f) if Administrator must cancel or terminate the Interview Application for any reason; (g) if any interview cannot be conducted due to circumstances beyond Administrator’s reasonable control; and (h) any and all claims, demands, causes of action, judgments, costs and expenses (including attorney’s fees) arising from a claim that your Submission infringes the intellectual property, privacy or publicity rights or any other legal or moral rights of any third party. You agree that in any cause of action, the Released Parties’ liability shall, to the extent permitted by applicable law, be limited to the cost of entering and participating in the Interview Application and in no event shall the Released Parties be liable for attorney’s fees or other legal costs.

DISPUTES

As a condition of participating in the Interview Application, you agree that any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or in connection with this Interview Application shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, exclusively by arbitration. You further agree that under no circumstances will you be permitted to obtain awards for, and you hereby waive all rights to claim, any damages whatsoever, including without limitation punitive, consequential, direct or indirect, or any other damages. Administrator reserves the right to modify these Official Terms in their discretion. All issues and questions concerning the validity, construction, interpretation, performance, and enforcement of the Interview Application and these Official Terms, or the rights and obligations of the you and Administrator, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules, which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the State of California.
