Who is eligible to participate in the Application Process?
Natural persons living anywhere in the world who 18 years of age or older (or the legal age of majority in their jurisdiction) can apply from eligible jurisdictions. Employees, agents, and immediate family/household members of Released Parties are ineligible.
How do I enter the Interview Application?
Pre-order the book and submit a 150-word biography/personal story about Shatner’s impact on your life via the ordering website during the Submission Period (August 6, 2025, 10 AM PT to December 30, 2025, 5 PM PT).
What is the pre-order cost of the book?
$29.95 for the first 90 days (until October 26, 2025), then $34.95 until December 30, 2025.
Can I submit multiple applications?
Yes, but you must pre-order a book for each application if you have multiple stories you’d like considered. But hey, the book will make a great gift!

What happens after I submit my application?
20-25 semifinalists will be chosen, vetted, and narrowed down to final interviewees by our Team and Mr. Shatner. Decisions are final.
The team reserves the right to bypass the application process for potential celebrity interviews, if deemed appropriate.
When will successful applicants be notified?
Potential interviewees will be contacted by email by the end of January 2026, or sooner if judging concludes earlier.
What are the interview details?
Interviews will likely be electronic; in-person interviews require applicants to cover all expenses. No compensation is provided.
Can the pre-ordered book be sent to someone else?
Yes, the book can be sent to a friend or relative of the buyer’s choosing.
What are the key dates?

- Judging Period: December 1, 2025, 10 AM PT to December 30, 2025, 5 PM PT. - Application closes: December 30, 2025 at 5PM PT.
Are there any restrictions on announcing my selection?
No communication about being a potential interviewee is allowed until verified and approved in writing by the Administrator. Any selectee found doing so will be removed from participating.
What rights does the Administrator have over my submission?
The Administrator may use, modify, or distribute your submission and name for promotion or the book without compensation, with rights lasting two years post-application or indefinitely if used in the book.
Can I withdraw my personal data?
Yes, but withdrawal before interviewee determination and interview conduct will disqualify your application.
How can I get the list of chosen interviewees?
Send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to Buy the Book, LLC, 10153 ½ Riverside Drive, Ste. 206, Toluca Lake, CA 91602, within 60 days after December 30, 2025.
What if there are issues with the application process?
The Administrator may suspend, terminate, or modify the process if impaired, with decisions final.
Is this a contest of chance?
No, it’s judged on merit by a panel, not chance.
